Memory games are great for preschoolers as they help to develop with image recognition and generally develop your child’s recall skills. They’re also great fun and can be played with quite young children. When you make your memory game, try and choose pictures of things that you child is interested in- they’ll love turning the cards over to see what is underneath.Â
Materials
Plain coloured card
Scissors of guillotine
small cut out or printed off pictures (1 pair of each picture)
Glue
Method
1. Equally divide your card into small squares, but making sure they are big enough for your pictures to fit on (I used some pictures my 2 year old knew like Dora etc and some she didn’t recognise for variety) and cut.
2. Cut out all your pictures and glue one picture on each card square.
3. Once all the glue is dry you can use the card for lots of options such as pictures facing up and small children have to match the pictures, turn them over for older children and get them to try remember where each card was and match or even play the card game fish.
