Dear Parent,
Frankly I was flattered to be asked to contribute to Kiwi Families.
Whilst I have been a World Champion in days gone by, I like to describe myself as an ordinary person who had the opportunity to do some extraordinary things.
And I consider my four gorgeous sons Julian 13, Alex 12, Josh 10 and Jamie 8 the most extraordinary achievement of all.
Like all of you I have experienced the highs and lows of parenting; often questioning my performance and always looking for tips on how to do it better or perhaps make it easier.
My contribution to Kiwi Families will be to share my experiences; the good, the bad and the ugly. I hope that you will identify with some of the challenges I face on a daily basis and realise that you are not alone in your quest to raise fine young men and women.
I am passionate about all children; their future is at stake and to me that’s about the greatest stake of all.
I have a feeling you will empathise with me when I am worn out and at my wits end, and smile when I share some of those memorable moments that are the rewards of parenting.
I am not an expert parent or a parenting expert; I am a mum who wants, just as I did in my sporting career, to be the best I can be.
I'm looking forward to working with you to become better parents.
Best wishes,
