Welcome to our Competitions page!  Kiwi Families regularly runs fun competitions for NZ parents and children with great family sized prizes. Keep your eye on this section to find new competitions each month.

Breastfeeding Photo Competition - show your pride!  We’re looking for stunning snaps of mums and babies breastfeeding outside the home, for a special photo competition. You’ll be in to win some great prizes. But most of all, you’ll show your support for breastfeeding. The competition has a regional flavour, so we’re looking for your best breastfeeding photos in local or landmark locations. For instance, on the shores of Lake Rotorua, at a South Auckland market, by a pohutukawa tree in the Far North, on a Southland sheep farm, in a Christchurch garden – anywhere you might normally breastfeed your baby, if you were out and about. How it works Winners will be chosen from eight regions and will be selected by public vote. The competition runs from 4 December 2009 to 12 February 2010. First prize winners will receive a prize pack of an A4 canvas print of their photo and a $250 voucher for the Warehouse, while second place prize winners will receive a $100 voucher for the Warehouse. Everyone who votes for a photo will go into the draw to win a $250 Warehouse voucher. Breastfeeding is the natural choice to ensure baby gets the very best start in life. And it’s better for mum. It’s well worth making the effort to start breastfeeding when baby is born, and to continue for at least the first 12 months. While breastfeeding can be difficult at first, it does get easier. A little help and encouragement from family and friends will make all the difference.  Why breastfeeding is best for baby It is the best way to help baby develop physically and emotionally. Breastmilk can give baby a perfect blend of nutrients and protective antibodies. It helps build immunity. Breastfed babies are less likely to suffer some illnesses. It helps build a natural bond between mother and child. Why breastfeeding is best for mum It reduces the risk of some breast cancers. It may reduce the risk of ovarian cancer, osteoporosis and hip fractures later in life. Breastfeeding can help Mum lose weight gained during pregnancy and get back into shape.
