Intermediate

Intermediate school is the stage of education that comes between primary and secondary school in NZ.  Check out our intermediate section for information about this stage.

The intermediate years.  Whether or not these years are in between ones for you and your child will depend on which type of Primary school your child has been attending.

If your child's been at a Primary school that goes through to Year 6, then Intermediate school is a whole new experience.  It can be one of those "they're neither here nor there" stages; child vs teen - children aged around 11 & 12 years old.  Some people refer to these years as the 'tweens'.

Whatever the case for you, we've tried to separate some important information relative to the Year 7 and 8 years.

There are some differences in the way kids learn at Intermediate; there's a change in the subjects they may take and there are certainly some social changes that begin to occur.

Have a read and as always, if you think we've missed something out then drop us a line and let us know.
