Secondary

It's time for your teenager to go to Secondary School.  Wow, I bet that zipped around fast.

Being faced with the prospect of their 'child' attending secondary school --- known in NZ as either "college" or "high school" --- can be scary for a lot of parents.  It's possibly the last time you as a parent will have any influence over your child's education.  There's a lot to get right, and a lot that can go wrong!  There's a heap to learn - for both you and your teen.

NCEA, form classes, the curriculum, subject choices, Year 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13...

In this section read an overview of the NZ secondary school education system, the types of assessment, of what your teen is likely to learn and the ways in which they may learn it.  We'll give you some idea of what to expect homework wise and the way discipline works, in general, at this level.

As always, if there's something you think we're missing drop us a line and we'll make sure we add it for you.

Happy browsing.
