Hi all
does anyone know how I can get my wee man to do a poo on the toilet? He is capable of doing so - he has done it before but chooses to do it instead in his night nappy rather than sitting on the toilet. His Dad has taken him and got him to help clean out the nappy into the toilet, making him take his nappy off as soon as he gets up, getting him to sit on the toilet for a while and reading stories to him but he just holds on until there is a nappy on. does anyone have any ideas?

Hi, I don't know if my message might be to late for you, but this is actually a very commin problem with boys, I think people just don't talk about it that often. I had the same struggle with my boy. He was already off his night nappy, but refused to poo in the toilet, and want us to put a nappy on for him to poo in. When we refused, we actually landed in hospital because he got blocked up. It was then that the doctor told me that this is very commin in boys and I should not worry. Well we decided then and there that a pack nappies is much cheaper than another trip to hospital, and I was sure that he will poo in the toilet before he gets married. ;-) Well a month ago he really wanted a certain super hero toy, and I started him on a star chart saying that he if poo on the toilet 10 times, he can get it. Well, I am proud to announce that my 5.5 year old boy has at last started pooing on the toilet got the super hero he wanted, and we are still going strong. So hang in there, it will happen for you also.
