Hi
Hi, im a first time mum to. We have a 16mth son his name is Aidan. Im enjoying being a parent and watching our son grow. It can be a challange somtimes he is a very strong little man and very independant. Hes trying to talk and gets very fustrated as he cant talk but he understands what you tell him. He expresses his feelings by screaming which can be quiet noisey!
Its so good that i have found a website and parents that i can get advice from.

Hi
Hi, annabell - I am a first time mum too. My baby is younger than yours, but from what I've heard it's normal for them to get frustrated when they can't communicate and express themselves properly. And I think they usually understand more than they can communicate themselves. My friend had a child with delayed speech problems and she just had to try and keep him calm when he was getting frustrated and try and work through it with him. I think she used some flas cards etc to help so that he could express what he wanted etc without getting so upset because he couldn't say it.

Hi!!
My boys are 9yo and 4yo, and baby is due 9th oct, but sue to me being diabetic will be being induced in september sometime. SO I am 32 weeks, with 4 to 6 weeks to go!
Kids all get frustrated when they are trying to talk. Both boys went through it, so did my brothers 5 kids (yes, he must be insane!!!)
Its a normal part of growing up for them. If you can give them ways to deal with the anger adn frustration, it will help them throughout their lives. The screaming to show what they want is so anoying, and the sooner they get out of that one, the more hearing you are left with!!!! and the more sanity!!! If you can get them to sit down adn calm down, they usauly find the words.
I did flash cards with my boys when they were learning to talk. I drew them by hand, so they looked rather weird, stick figures and all!! But it was fun making them and fun for the kids to guess what they were, and helpful if they just coudlnt get a word out, sometimes they could find the picture. And, when they got older, we used them for sight words, had the word on the back, so they had to read the word, but if they got stuck could sneek a look at the picture.
My oldest boy was talking very young. It was cool at first, but the off button was not working!!!!
