Aggression/Violence
I am writing because I am at my wits end. For several months now our 4 1/2 year old son has been (periodically, but quite often) violent at creche. Spitting, hitting, kicking, punching, biting, shouting, screaming... the list goes on.
Creche have been quite nice and have called in Special Ed, but apparently there is a waiting list and... we have to wait.
Today he punched 2 children in the face, he bit the teacher who tried to remove him from the room (hard enough to leave a bruise) and spat at someone else. I am terrified that they will kick him out of creche, like that little boy down South.
I don't know what to do. He doesn't get hit at home (ever). He is at creche 4 days a week - at home with me for one. He has a large, loving extended family and we are in a fortunate (enough) situation. I am beside myself with worry.
We have been to a child pyschologist (twice now - once just us, once with him) and he said we need to set aside play time for 1/2 hour per day with him - where he gets to choose what we do and he drives it. But it doesn't seem to be working.
Does anyone have any ideas? Please help. I don't know what to do.
