Other Illnesses

This section on other illnesses covers conditions that can be serious or life threatening, or illnesses which need prompt medical treatment.

There is nothing more frightening for parents than having a sick child!

It’s awful watching them suffer and sometimes our imaginations run away with us, worrying over their symptoms and wondering what could be wrong.

So here at Kiwi Families we will give you factual information about types of illness that particularly affect children: in each article you will find easy to understand explanations of the diseases, their signs and symptoms and the treatment available to help your child. Some diseases have risks and complications and you will find a section on this too, when applicable. Most usefully, for us as parents, there is a section on what we can do at home for our children to lessen their symptoms.

In this Other Illnesses section you will also find more general information such as an Emergency Checklist, which lists all the worrying symptoms that our children may suffer from and advice on whether or not they are serious.
