Interview with Mark Sainsbury - 29 April 2008

Recession

A year ago it was all boom. We were talking a knowledge economy, rising real estate prices and the need to slow down the economy. Now, with rapidly escalating fuel and food prices, not to mention mortgage rates - it's all gloom. As TVNZ and Kiwi Families heard from you in calls and emails last night, middle New Zealand is now hurting. You have told us how you are growing vegetables, even scouring the neighbourhood for wild fruit and mushrooms to stretch the budget. How bad is it going to get? And what can you do now to save a lot of pain later on.

Our Editor, Kerry Burridge and Economist, Gareth Morgan joined Mark Sainsbury in the studio to discuss this issue that is concerning all New Zealanders.
