Illness

In this section we overview each of the major Illness related support groups in NZ - providing information, support and understanding for families experiencing one of a range of illnesses. Many of these support groups are child focussed, but all provide support for affected families --- parents, children, relatives and friends.

Illness is something that affects every one of us and our families at some stage in our lives. For many it’s no more than a bad cold or flu; something minor that heals quickly.

For others, illness can have a major effect on our family. Terminal diseases, mental illness, chronic or acute disorders, all come with challenges we didn’t ask for and don’t want.

But how do we deal with these issues? The illness may be negatively affecting you and your family and you don’t know where to turn. Perhaps a loved one has been diagnosed with a serious health problem and you need to find out more so you can offer support.

In this Illness Support Groups section we cover the major conditions - disease or disorder, mental or physical, especially those affecting New Zealand children.
