As an international and domestic tourism and event centre destination, Rotorua covers the spectrum of family accommodation needs. No matter what your preference, there will be the right accommodation type in Rotorua for you, but we recommend that you BOOK AHEAD to secure your desired place to stay.  Rotorua is pretty heavily booked most of the year, so make enquiry online about availability and service/facility options.

On a Budget

Kiwi Paka

Just 10 minutes walk into town, on the edge of Kuirau Park, is Kiwi Paka. This clean, friendly, smoke free hostel provides “The Lodge” with four or five share rooms, “The Chalet” has its’ own bathroom and leads to a garden or private balcony. Both the Lodge and Chalets are thermally heated – what a fantastic experience for the children! For the “Outdoors Family” Kiwi Paka offers  tent and camper sites which are surrounded by peaceful and shady trees. The tent sites are designed for 2 and 3 person tents, with powered sites available for camper vans. You have the option of bringing your own linen or hiring it on arrival for a nominal charge.

A great bonus is the Kiwi Paka is located right next door to the Aquatic Centre which has a 50 metre outdoor pool, an indoor pool and a children’s pool too (charges apply)! Also at the back gate of Kiwi  Paka there is fantastic large steaming pools and bubbling mud – this is FREE of charge and a wonderful place to walk around with the children.

Kiwi Paka also has their own large hot thermal pool. At approximately 40C, it is a wonderful way to relaxing after a day of adventure. Open from 6am until midnight the pool is free of charge for guests.

Enjoy delightful feasts in the “Twisted Pippie” café. Open for breakfast and dinner the Twisted Pippie caters for diverse culinary tastes. They have two qualified chefs to ensure you leave happy and satisfied.

Mid Range

Rotorua Hideaway Lodge

Located on four acres of private and peaceful park-like grounds in Ngongotaha, Rotorua Hideaway Lodge has no sulphur fumes, features friendly farm animals to pet, and a custom-built extensive adventure playground, including treehuts, slides, flying fox, and a four hole golf course.
 
The lodge has 8 self-contained spacious units with an option of twin or double beds. All units have fully equipped kitchens (including full size stoves & microwaves). Rooms are heated (electric blankets are also provided) and include a shower and bath.
 
This is a fun and safe place for the kids, a relaxing atmosphere for the parents, with friendly hosts, is reasonably priced, and is a home away from home. All units are serviced daily, provide a B&B option, and also provide BBQ area, bike storage, high chairs, cots, irons, ironing boards, and hair dryers.
 

A Bit of Luxury

Koura Lodge

Indulge the family in a bit of luxury at Koura Lodge, situated on the tip of Kawaha Point, a private, peaceful location, just five minutes drive from Rotorua central.  Their tranquil lakefront retreat is nestled in an established garden setting with panoramic views over Lake Rotorua to Mokoia Island, Mt Tarawera and beyond.

On-site facilities include family suites for up to four people (with private ensuite bathrooms), in standard or premium options; buffet breakfast; kitchenettes (adjacent to rooms); communal lounges; Sky TV in the main lounge; lakeside spa pool; canoes; and astro-grass tennis court.
