I’m liking
Libbi: The illustrations in the book are beautifully detailed. Ted and I spent a lot of time talking about the pictures and looking at the detail in them. We managed to discuss the historical references and which lead to a lot of “Whyyyy?” questions.
I am told we now have to make a volcano with baking soda and vinegar so we can have dinosaurs run from it like in the story.
Ted: I liked the pictures and the poo. It made me laugh. I also liked the stink lines coming off the broccoli cake.
Libbi: Ted has also enjoyed showing people the book and waiting for their reaction to the pages with the poo. It is kind of like the perfect practical joke for 4 year olds. I can’t wait for the grandparents to arrive at Christmas…
Things that made me go hmmmm
Libbi: I have two little children who think farting and poo is the funniest thing ever so I consider myself to not be the sort of person who is grossed out easily. The poo illustrations made me go a little “ugh” but not enough to not read it. (As if I would be allowed to!)
It would also be good to brush up on the finer points of the concept of time travel as my first explanation was apparently not up to standard.

The conclusion
Libbi: It’s an interesting book. I can’t say it is my favourite but my son liked it and that is good enough for me. We have read it 6 times in two days and there is always something new to look at and talk about. I would consider getting the rest in the series.
Ted: It’s a funny book. I like it.
