Sometimes Sophie worries — not during the day when she is busy with family and friends, but at night when everything is calm and quiet. Her family all try to help, but somehow they just make her worries worse. Until her mother thinks of a new approach …

I’m liking

This book is both sweet and funny. Sophie’s mum, dad and siblings are so kind to her but there is also some lovely, funny detail in the pictures. I love that not everything is spelt out to the reader.

The conclusion

This book would be wonderful to read with a child who has problems sleeping (like Sophie!). However, it can also be enjoyed just for the story, as my children do! The gorgeous, bright pictures have made this book a hit with my kids.

Don’t Think about Purple Elephants is published by Exisle Publishing (Australia) and retails for around $21.

Author

Rochelle is mum to three gorgeous daughters. She wishes she had more time to garden and read the newspaper in peace!
