Or dear, Hare had an idea… but he’s lost it. Don’t worry though as the Kiwi forest is full of friends who want to help Hare find his idea again. Hare’s friends are a quirky mix of New Zealand forest birds and critters, as well as a few farm foul, and even a tortoise for good measure.

What I’m liking

Hare is written and illustrated by Deborah Hinde, the very talented children’s book author who brought us A Kiwi Night Before Christmas.

The really cool thing about this book is that it’s full of really visual words. This totally brings the story to life. It’s almost as if you can read what the animals are thinking, if that makes sense? If not, you’ll just have to read it to find out what I mean.

Conclusion

This is a really quirky book. I just loved reading it. The ending is fun and silly, and kids from 2 to 5 years of age are just going to love the movement of the images. I’m not quite sure that it’s got all of the components to out-do A Kiwi Night Before Christmas. But it’s definitely a Kiwi bookshelf keeper. Buy one for the kids, then buy one to send to nieces and nephews overseas too!
