In I can’t Imagine How That Happened, by Aimee McNaughton, Meg and Grandpa go camping, and Grandpa’s teasing and practical jokes always end with him saying, ‘I can’t imagine how that happened’.

Until finally the tables are turned and Meg gets her own back!

I’m liking

This book has such a lovely sense of fun about it. Grandpa is a trickster through and through but Meg doesn’t let him get the best of her. The book is also full of the kinds of things that make up a Kiwi summer.

The illustrations by Dominique Ford are cartoonish and reflect the fun of the story.

The conclusion

My 6 year old snort-laughs her way through this book. It’s a great book for both kids and parents to enjoy and “I can’t imagine how that happened” has become quite a catchphrase around here.

I can’t Imagine How That Happened is published by Scholastic and has a RRP of $15.99.
