Sonoma Meets Miss Mouse is a heartwarming tale of a little girl named Sonoma and her new best friend. Through the warm, vibrant illustrations and rich text, children will learn the value of friendship and the importance of helping all creatures great and small.
I’m liking
Although Di Morrissey is a very well-known Australian author, it was really the images, by Julie Sydenham that struck me in the book. I loved the variety of angles and the details within each image. There’s something a bit whimsical and dream-like about the images and they also have a wonderful textual quality.
There are also some lovely details in the story and I liked the variety of vocabulary and imagery.
The conclusion
This is a sweet book, which my children have all enjoyed. It’s also made me keen to seek out more books illustrated by Julie Sydenham.
