Intrigued by the most humble household items, one quirky character coins contraptions and meddles with mechanisms to find topsy-turvy ways to breathe life into his pile of junk.

In this visual extravaganza-meets-science experiment, a frying pan becomes a friend, a broom plays music, and an egg takes a walk. Combining circus, clown, puppetry, music and magic, Squaring the Wheel proves how a little imagination can transform the simplest things into the simply sublime.

I’m liking

Caitlin: This was my favourite show. I really liked the way that he used lots of different things in a funny way. The big marble run was really cool and it was also cool how he used lots of different things that were just lying around. My favourite bit was when the balls kept coming out of his mouth.

Caitlin’s mum: This show was perfectly pitched for the audience of 5-7 year olds and there’s something magical about watching a bunch of kids enjoying some slap-stick and physical theatre.

The conclusion

A fantastically enjoyable show that will appeal to a wide range of children. It’s clever, well-paced and totally engaging.

Squaring the Wheel is part of the Capital E National Arts Festival.
