Auckland Museum presents for the first time CAMERA Season of Photography, a major showcase of some of the most remarkable wildlife and documentary photography from New Zealand and around the world. There are some great activities for kids going on within the exhibition where there is a dedicated family space.

The world’s most prestigious wildlife photography is on show at Auckland Museum. London’s Natural History Museum and BBC Wildlife magazine has curated this exhibition of stunning images selected from more than 40,000 entries across 95 countries in Wildlife Photographer of the Year.

This incredible collection of 108 photographs encapsulates both the beauty of the world we live in and the fragility of nature with some stark images including the winning photograph which captures oil-soaked pelicans caught in the aftermath of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

NZ Geographic NZ LIFE: Award winning Photography 2009-11

NZ LIFE brings together the best of the New Zealand Geographic Photographer of the Year entries from the past four years of this national competition. Spanning wildlife, landscapes and culture, these photos transport the viewer around the country, providing a new lens on everything from the geography to the national psyche.

Showcasing the work of professionals and talented amateurs, NZ LIFE brings the audience face-to-face with moments of spectacular beauty, joy and devastation.

Learn to construct your own pinhole camera, a simple way to experiment with photography.

EVERY PICTURE TELLS A STORY

WEEKENDS 11 – 26 AUG, 10.30AM- 12PM & 1.30 – 3PM, $5 PER PERSON SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN 8 YEARS AND OVER. MEMBERS FREE. BOOKINGS REQUIRED*

Be inspired by exhibition photos to draw a story about what happened before and after the photo. Make a sliding ‘film roll’ of your picture sequence to animate the story.
