Kung Fu Panda 3

Kung Fu Panda, you’re either going to love it, or not.

I’m firmly in the love it camp. I think Jack Black is excellent, and he’s in fine form in the third installation of the Kung Fu Panda film series.

Thomas King of the Railway

HO00002316

I should probably mention here that upon learning that I was going to review this movie, my 3 year old son Ted decided that he should be co-author. You have been warned….

Ted says: “The movie was about Thomas and a really useful engine who got stuck in a mine and some bad men took a GOLDEN crown and then THEY FOUND IT!” When asked if anything else happened Ted replied “I don’t know Mummy, it was a really long movie.”

Ted’s Mum says: “He is basically right. Thomas and some other engines have adventures and a really old steam engine called Stephen tries to be useful and ends up in a bit of a predicament.”

Escape from Planet Earth

EFPE-New-Zealand-One-Sheet

I took my 7yo daughter and 5yo son (plus my son’s best mate) for a school holiday trip to the movies – the choice was “Escape From Planet Earth” in 3D at St. Luke’s. Overall the movie kept their attention for around 85% of the time (some lapses in concentration from the 5yo’s) and they generally had a great time.

Finding Nemo 3D

FindingNemo3D_NZ1Sht

First up, I have to say that I didn’t see Finding Nemo when it first came out, so I don’t have anything to compare it with. I went on Fathers’ Day with my almost four year old, who was extremely excited to be going to her first movie.

There was a great opening short movie, a spin off from toy story called Partysaurus Rex. This too was in 3D and it was great. Miss Almost Four was laughing out loud and loved it, and I enjoyed it as well.

Finding Nemo was great, visually spectacular and entertaining on multiple levels for both adults and kids – what I saw of it – more about that below.

Space Chimps

Space Chimps

The story follows two NASA trained chimpanzees; Lucy (a well trained, disciplined, typical “company woman”) and Ham (a classic good-natured goofball) who have to forego their usual comforts and live like animals when their space mission propels them into a distant universe.
