The Bubblebum travel booster seat is an inflatable, portable car booster seat for children aged between 4 to 11 or weighing between 15-36KGS. It packs down into a travel bag and can be stored in the car or easily carried in a bag or suitcase. The BubbleBum is approved for use in a number of countries around the world, including all European Community countries, the UK, USA, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, Israel, Russia and New Zealand.

I’m liking

This is a really compact booster seat that hardly takes up any room in the car. If you had space issues in your car but still wanted to keep your child in a booster, this would be a great option. It was super easy to install and the child I used it on found it comfortable to sit on.

The Bubblebum seems very reasonably priced to me. At $89.95, it’s not a massive outlay and would be a good investment, especially if you transported your child in several different cars.

Things that made me go hmmmm

I’m not sure that the cover would be that easy to clean… it’s a sort of meshy fabric and I fear that the debris from my children would get mooshed into it.

The instructions for the Bubblebum explicitly say to keep your child in a 5 point harness until the upper end of the weight range and I think that is probably good advice. However, as they grow out of full car seats or for travel and short distances, the Bubblebum seems like an excellent alternative – especially if the alternative is nothing!

The conclusion

I think the best use of this seat is as a spare or travel booster. I used it with a friend’s child and it was great to have something that I could pull out at short notice and pop her onto. If you have friends or family who regularly transport your child, this would be really useful as it’s easy to get in and out of the car and you can either keep it with the child or in each car.

I think it would also be fantastic if you were travelling- so much easier to stick this in your suitcase than to have to take your car seat on the plane or hire one at the other end.

Overall, a useful, well-priced piece of travel equipment!
