I missed the boat swaddling my first baby and he was really difficult to settle to sleep. I was much more determined second time around and prepared from day one! Love to Swaddle Up made it all a lot easier.

I’m liking

It’s so basic which is it’s charm. Stick baby in, zip it up and they are ready to settle to sleep. No fussing with big pieces of fabric and wrapping tight enough. No concerns for me about baby breaking out of swaddle and having pieces of fabric loose in their sleep zone. Baby can suck their hands to soothe themselves to sleep, which isn’t possible when their arms are swaddled down.

There are ones you can get where you can zip out one arm to wean them off the swaddle – I didn’t want to spend the extra money to do that, but if you did, it would make this process pretty simple.

Things that made me go hmmmm

These retail for around $50 full price, and realistically, you need two in each size. My baby was big enough, so I got away with one small and two medium sized ones, as he was ok in the medium sized ones from birth (but definitely a tighter swaddle was achieved with the small fit initially).  I weaned him off the swaddle before he needed a larger size than the medium.

The conclusion

They are excellent quality, though the arm bits will brown with sucking the swaddles are in excellent condition even with five months of daily use and frequent washing. I would recommend spending the money on these if you can afford to. Forego a few other bits and pieces (like big squares of fabric for swaddling) and splash out on these! They are now one of my favourite baby products.
