  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 2 Pieces of toast
  • 1 Boiled egg peeled and cut in half
  • Marmite

Instructions

  1. In saucepan, heat oil over medium heat. Add onion, garlic and season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Cook until onion is soft.

  3. Add maple syrup, tomato purée, mustard powder and another 1/2 cup of water. Simmer until sauce has thickened, then season with salt and pepper.

  4. Serve in a desert bowl.

To make bloke's face

  1. For ‘helmet like’ hair, cut toast in half, pick one half then starting from the bottom edge cut out a rectangle then remove piece.

  2. Spread on the marmite on the toast

  3. For eyes, place eggs half under the helmet hair (yolk side up)

  4. Pop of a dob of marmite on each yolk for pupils.

  5. Have fun fashioning a moustache by cutting out crazy shapes from remaining piece of toast. Alternatively if you are after a more chiseled moustache you can purchase moustache sandwich cutters (Crustaches), online from www.kiwicakes.co.nz.
