Reo Pēpi presents its first series of beautiful bilingual children’s books with the release of Kanohi – My Face, Kākahu – Getting Dressed & Kararehe – Animals. With hand drawn images and text featuring both English and Te Reo Maori, each book includes a phonetic guide to help with pronunciation.

I’m liking

I love this new series of bilingual books. Not only are they beautifully crafted, they are hardwearing for little hands. These books are a wonderful addition to any bookshelf, especially if you are wanting to bring the Maori language into your home.

Being a teacher I love that these books are set out perfectly for early readers with their repetitive language to help early readers with word recognition. But don’t take my word for it, after only reading the series to my 3 year old a few times, she was picking up the book and quoting lines from it in Maori. I was very impressed!

Things that made me go hmmmm

All I can say is: bring out more books like this please!

The conclusion

Overall this is a must-have series to have in any Kiwi bookshelf, not only at home but also in schools.
