This story is about “real witches” – who dress in ordinary clothes, look like ordinary women, but loathe all children. The seven-year-old hero and his grandmother are pitted against them at a witches convention, at which the witches are plotting to exterminate every child in England.

  1. I can’t believe people are writing this book shouldn’t be in the school
library. My primary school teacher read this book to my class when I was
about 9 years old now 25yrs. It was a very memerable, fun book it
    really bought out our imaginations.

The movie is a little scary though.

  2. I love this book. Saw the movie also and loved it too. I wouldn’t recommend either to the younger kids though.

  3. Roald Dahl was another of my favourite authors when I was a child. my kids love this book

  4. My daughter loves this book her school wont keep this in the library but a good story to read.

  5. iam not into witches and when the school teacher recommened my
daughter to read this book i was not impressed. Roald Dahl is an
excellent author but this book should not be read aloud in class.

  6. I thought this book was really cool, and quite funny, Roald Dahl has
such a fantastic knack for describing the most vile things 🙂

I thought the movie was really great too..maybe not for the young young viewer

  7. i dont know if these books should be in a school library but good reading.
