July holidays can be cold and wet and it can be tough to keep the kids entertained. Here’s a great activity that’s fun to make and will also provide hours of hilarity as you try and throw your ring.

Materials

Cardboard box (shoe box size or bigger)

7 pegs

Scissors

Vivid

Materials that you can make a ‘ring’ to toss out of  (we cut out the middle of some large plastic lids e.g deli or chinese containers).

Method

1. Mark out 7 places on your cardboard box where you are going to put your pegs (just make them randomly all over the box so long as they are spread out).

2. Use your scissors to make slits on your marks – make two slits right next to each other for each peg and push peg in, about half way down.

3. Do this for each peg. In front of each peg, mark a number from 1-7 randomly (these will be the points you can score when you ‘hook’ the peg with your lid)

4.Make your rings out of plastic lids or similar. When you put your peg box on the ground to play, mark a spot on the ground when people have to stand to toss, making it equal for everyone.

Once your game is made, set it up and away you go! Your kids will have loads of fun trying to get their ring on the peg. You could even get your kids to decorate their own rings and the game base for even more fun.
