I’m liking:

The fabric was soft and comfortable, with the weight being distributed over both shoulders, and the hips, so the wrap didn’t dig in anywhere.

I loved the way the baby was upright, with their face near mine so I could constantly see that they were okay, and that their face was clear.

The tight wrapping of young baby (under 3 months ish) meant he felt snug and safe, without legs flailing about or dangling, And for older baby (4 months ish?), it could be tied differently, or we faced him outwards.

No clips, buckles, rings etc to sort out

We used this wrap constantly for my third child, who refused to sleep anywhere else for the first 4 months of his life (during the day, anyway), so it HAD to be comfortable – for both me and baby.

I could even breast-feed with baby still in the wrap! – an absolute Godsend for while out and about on field-trips etc with my other two children.

I still have a wrap in the car for ’emergencies’ when Mr2 refuses to walk and I’ve forgotten the push-chair.

Things that made me go hmmm:

You really *need* the instruction manual with this one. I watched YouTube videos of people tying their Moby wraps over and over, and practiced a few times on a doll to get the hang of it. (I should have practiced on a wriggly sack of potatoes!). But really, you just pick one of the ways of tying it, and once you’ve done it 3 or 4 times you can do it without even thinking about it.

The Moby is made of such soft tee-shirt type material that it’s a bit too stretchy for older babies – you don’t get as much support. If you were planning on using a wrap for a 6month+ baby, or a toddler, I’d go for one made out of woven non-stretch fabric.

In conclusion:

Were I to have another baby, I’d use the Moby from day 1 and not even bother with anything else until baby got too heavy for it – then I’d consider a wrap from different fabric, or perhaps a mei-tei carrier. For me, a carrier that uses both shoulders is a must.

About the Moby Wrap

Mobyâ„¢ Wrap Baby Carriers are amazingly comfortable and easy to wear! The design of the Mobyâ„¢ Wrap uses your entire back, as well as your shoulders, to carry the weight of your baby. Unlike other carriers, which have narrow straps or go across one shoulder, the Mobyâ„¢ Wrap is a wide piece of fabric that is wrapped over both shoulders and tied on your waist. There are no buckles, snaps or other fasteners which make wearing simple. The Mobyâ„¢ Wrap is long enough to fit all sizes of baby wearers and babies – preemie to 16 kg.

The Moby Baby Wrap costs around $70-$80
