I’m liking:

I liked the idea. I liked being able to hold a fussy baby and also do some of the other things that needed doing around the house.

Things that made me go hmmm:

My back hates all the one-shoulder slings/wraps. All that weight being held lopsidedly really does me in – especially in the post-birth phase of still stretchy joints etc.
I also couldn’t really work out how to adjust the rings very well. The model I tried had roll-padded edges, which might have been okay for an older child, but I hated the way my young baby disappeared inside – and she hated being held lying down. Perhaps if I’d had someone to show me how to use it properly, (or even thought to have a look on Youtube!) it might have been a different experience.

In conclusion:
I was given a sling by someone why also didn’t like them, so couldn’t show me how to use it well. I tried a few times, but my large (4.3kg) baby was awfully heavy to support from just one shoulder. I switched to a two-shoulder carrier and was much happier.

About Ring Slings

A baby sling is a length of fabric you wrap over one shoulder and around your waist. It holds a baby nestled in a curved or “C” position. The sling often has a ring at the shoulder which you can adjust. Ring slings generally cost $50-$60.
