The set up:
No one wanted the job of creating and maintaining Earth, so it was given to Bob, one of the committee member’s no hoper teenage son. Bob shows occasional signs of brilliance, but beyond the 6 days of creation, he’s not really interested in the job of maintaining Earth and its inhabitants. Bob is your typical lethargic teenager with raging hormones and an attitude problem.

I’m liking

I really liked the premise, I found the idea of the creator being a flawed teenage boy quite interesting, and helpful to explaining away unfortunate situations: Got a flood? Bob’s hormones make weather patterns go crazy. Why is Africa so arid? Bob’s dyslexic and mixed up the directions he was given.

Things that made me go hmmmm

The book as a whole just doesn’t seem to work for me. Teen fiction is usually more character driven, but I didn’t find any of the characters likeable. The plot seems to ramble on without much ever happening, which would have been fine if I’d developed an interest in the characters.

The conclusion

This book could be good for keen readers who like reading earth based fantasy – where real life is twisted up in otherworldly events.
