A clever mouse outsmarts his predators by telling them his good friend the gruffalo — “a creature with terrible claws, and terrible tusks in his terrible jaws” — will eat them. When the imaginary monster actually appears, the mouse manages to outsmart him as well. This humorous, rhyming story is complemented by charming watercolor illustrations.

The wording is great, it teaches kids to be descriptive and expressive. I love the pictures.

The rhymes are full of surprises and are very funny – I like the
descriptions of what the gruffalo eats the best – roasted fox, owl ice
cream and scrambled snake! I enjoyed it so much that I had to finish the
story off myself when my daughter decided she’d had enough.
There is a story behid this book as i tell my kids you need to have your milk to be cleaver like the mouse.
I am a preschool teacher and my children over this book they love
the way i read it will special voices and cant get enough of it but i do
recommend not reading this book before bed.
when my son won’t fall off to sleep i read this book as he is scared of the claws and falls very fast.
