Expert Australian specialty footwear store ‘Sole Mechanics’ has opened the doors on their first New Zealand based store. Stocked with the best brands in footwear including New Balance, Nike, Bobux for Children and VIVOBAREFOOT. The store is a unique retail facility complete with a designated coaching space designed to allow for coaching sessions that can help individuals to reinstate natural movement and let their feet do their thing without artificial support.

One of the key concepts of the Sole Mechanics store in ensuring that from an early age, children’s needs are taken care of. During the early years of a child’s life in particular, their feet undergo huge amount of change. Children’s feet need room to grow, flex, strengthen and develop naturally – ideally completely unshod. But if in our modern society there are times when shoes are required and in these circumstances it is best to have your child’s feet in shoes that best mimic being barefoot. Sole Mechanics stock the NZ made Bobux Range of specialist children’s footwear. Bobux is a NZ based company distributing worldwide for more than 20 years. Founded by Chris and Colleen Bennett, the brand came out of the desire to find a soft flexible shoe that would suit their 9 month old daughter. At the time only hard-soled shoes were available which their daughter wouldn’t wear. Their designs include ranges specific to various early childhood milestones – including newborn, developing feet, first walkers and confident walkers.
