Little Elliot lives in a Big City, but leads a quiet life. He’s just a little guy so life can present some challenges. He gets through by enjoying the simple things and finding friendship in an unlikely place. This is a stunningly beautiful picture book with a lovely story.

The blurb about this book says it’s illustrated in gorgeous retro noir style. I wouldn’t have known what words to put to it, but it’s totally gorgeous. The scales and proportions used in the images are fascinating. Like Little Elliot – Big Family, this book has an air of sophistication that is rare in children’s books, it strikes a wonderful balance of heartening story and amazing illustrations.
The conclusion
Whether you love cupcakes, love New York or just love a good friend to share things with, this book won’t let you down. It’s really lovely, and would make a wonderful gift for anyone aged approximately 3+.
