Music Box 2016 is a selection of songs from the New Zealand children’s music awards 2016.

Each year the APRA Best Children’s Music Song celebrates the songwriters and composers who write for the children of New Zealand. A selection of the songs submitted for the Best Song award are compiled on this great little album for kids.

I’m liking

This is a stomping little album for kids. If your kids are aged none to around 8-9 years of age, there will be something for them on this album. Our little Miss 3 absolutely loves it, and plays it over and over!

I really thought Anika Moa’s track was going to be my favourite. And My Nana’s Farm is freaky and hilarious, and I really liked it. But there are other tracks on here I liked more. The songs by Zoo Boogie are real little dance-along numbers, and Itty Bitty Beats’ Po Marie is awesome. Weird Creatures by Luke Fitzgerald and Danny Fairley’s Cooking Up a Song were another couple of catchy little ditties I found myself singing along to.

Conclusion

There is so much good music, and great artists, in New Zealand right now. So much so that we can create a compilation album of great kid’s songs each year! This is a really cool way of getting kids into New Zealand music from a young age, and such a great way of supporting the New Zealand music industry.
