The ASUS Transformer Book T100 is an affordable tablet laptop which, quite simply, performs. It’s snappy and user-friendly and has amazingly fast processing power.
I’m liking
• Good quality plastic build quality
• Excellent quality detachable keyboard.
• At $700, it is much cheaper than comparable surface RT product with similar capacity.
• The new Intel Atom Processor is unbelievably fast and responsive compared to its power consumption. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s competitive against some of the Intel Celeron or i3 found in some of the entry class notebooks. It is much faster in any computational task compared to the processor in the Surface RT.
• The graphics processor is also much faster than offered in Surface RT. Also, since this tablet is running full x86 windows, there is a huge selection of games available compared to Surface RT.
• Full-sized USB 3.0 port
• Comes with preinstalled office home and students 2013
• Very loud speakers and they are designed in a way so when held in landscape orientation, sound does not get covered compared to some other tablets.
• Very fast and smooth browser experience. Plays YouTube without any issues even when using Internet Explorer.
Things that made me go hmmmm
• The dock sometimes does not easily click in. Requires some force. But once connected, its one solid device, feels much like a netbook.
• The dock unfortunately does not contain an additional battery to extend/charge the tablet battery. This would be a really cool feature.
• No Rear camera
• No touch start key on the tablet. This is a very handy function to have when using in tablet format.
• Average quality front facing camera for a budget tablet.
The conclusion
This is a very nice tablet which can do productive work (using the included office 2013), run normal Windows programs, and is also great for entertainment when you are ready to have fun. It’s a much better, cheaper investment option compared to Microsoft’s own Surface RT.
